Charles P. “Chuck” Scearce, 42, of Rapid City, S.D., was a friend to many people in the Yampa Valley. He lived in this community for many years and will always be remembered for his kind heart and adventurous spirit. Charles died in a logging accident Dec. 21, 2012. On the snowy night of Dec. 24, 2012, in Rapid City, Charles was laid to rest with a ceremony celebrating his spirit’s journey. Charles was honored by his friends and family, who spoke about the kind of gentle and fun-loving man he was: the kind of man that made them do their homework, and the kind of man that always had an outdoor adventure in mind, the kind of man who could listen. During his life, Charles’ spirit and optimism were contagious. His spontaneity, unmatched. Charles was genuine, kind and truthful. He leaves behind many who profoundly miss him and celebrate him in the wonders of this world, in laughter, in rain, in wind, in blooms, in earth. On June 21, 2013, the summer solstice, Charles’ friends and family will be celebrating him, as they will continue to celebrate him for years to come. Among the many family members and many friends that Charles leaves behind is his daughter, Alivia Virginia Scearce. Donations may be made at any Wells Fargo Bank into the Rapid City savings account of Alivia Virginia Scearce or mailed to his mother, Becky Crocker, P.O. Box 10091, Springfield, MO 65808.
