Jonathan Kent Seabert, 30, of Steamboat Springs, Co, died accidentally of a seizure, on Friday, August 15th at home. A celebration of Kent’s life will be held at Perry Mansfield Performing Arts School on Saturday, 8/23 at 10:30 am with Father Ernest Bayer officiating.
Kent was born to Walt and Betsy Seabert in Leadville, Colorado on August 24, 1983. He attended the first two years of high school in Leadville and then relocated to Steamboat in 2000. Kent graduated from Steamboat Springs HS in 2002. He shared his musical talents in both high school band programs, earning State Honors for playing the tuba. He also played the electric bass in jazz band and for musical performances.
Kent is survived by his parents, his younger brother, Adam, nine aunts and 30 cousins.
Kent was an outgoing, caring and exceedingly friendly young man who had a magnetic personality and infectious, beautiful smile. He genuinely loved everyone he ever met and he was equally loved back by those whose lives he touched, even if briefly. Kent was a gifted musician, photographer and artist. He was an outdoorsman who loved camping, fishing, 4-wheeling and snowboarding. Kent worked primarily in the construction trades in Steamboat, and he forever stamped his shining personality on the hearts of his numerous co-workers in the area. Kent was fiercely loyal to his family and friends and could always be counted on for help and support.
Kent’s death resulted from complications from a seizure. The traumatic brain injury he suffered in a skate boarding accident five years ago left him permanently more susceptible to seizures as well as depression and anxiety. Kent’s alcohol use increased his risk for seizures. His death is a tragic and unnecessary loss. May his spirit have a positive influence on others who are suffering from addiction or depression, and be an inspiration to reach out for help without delay. Please keep a close eye on your loved ones and give them a hug today.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kent Seabert Memorial Fund, at Yampa Valley Bank.
