FORT WORTH -- Benjamin Milton Jones, 81, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Stayton, his home in Fort Worth on Thursday, October 9, 2014. Private Memorial Service. Ben was born December 18, 1932 in Olustee, Oklahoma to Alva and Eula Jones. He was one of seven children. The family resided in Oklahoma, Texas and Colorado.
Ben joined the US Navy at the age of 17 and went on to serve proudly in the Korean War. He traveled extensively as National Sales Manager of International Homes and raised his family in Winnsboro, Texas.
In 1985, Ben married Sharon Davis of Fort Worth. Ben and Sharon lived in Weatherford and Ben joined Sharon in her family's business, Westgate Fabrics, until it sold in 1993. Together they moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado where they enjoyed the mountains, many friends and lots of adventures. Here, Ben was on the board of the Tread of the Pioneers Museum. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the Elks Lodge. Ben's favorite group was the “DD” Coffee Club in Steamboat- where the world's problems were analyzed and solved.
Sharon and Ben traveled by motor coach across the country for 5 years - going from Maine to Alaska picking up friends along the way. Ben never met a card game he couldn't win or a joke he couldn't repeat. He leaves all his loved ones with amazing memories of his quick wit and infectious smile.
Ben always had a remarkable bond with his chocolate lab companions: Maggie & Lilly. Endless hours of fetch and fishing they spent together.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter and son-in-law, Judy Lynn Jones Bolt and Barney Bolt of Houston, Texas; his grandson Casey Jones of Winnsboro, Texas, his sisters, Wilma Alexander, Ada McCormick, and Phoebe Voorhis.
Survivors: In addition to wife Sharon, Ben is survived by his daughter and husband Brenda and Danny Shields of Mesquite, Texas; his son and wife Dennis and Sherrie Jones of West Monroe, Louisiana; his daughter and son-in-law Lauris and Jay Gibson of Wichita, Kansas; his son and daughter-in-law Reese and Rebecca Hillard of Fort Worth; his sisters Aliene Johnson of North Carolina, Eula Dungan of New Mexico; and his brother Sam Jones of Deep Park, Texas. 18 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.
