Sara Jane Templeton Patton passed away quietly on Saturday June 6th 2015 after a six month battle with leukemia. She spent the last three months of her life at Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado surrounded by her family, friends and a caring hospital staff.

Sara was born on a grey winter’s day on November 25, 1952 the third child of Howard Melvin Templeton and Jane Elizabeth Groh at the Rice Lake hospital in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. From that grey day Sara went on to brighten and grace many lives.

Sara is survived by the pride of her life, her two children, Lindsay Louise Patton and Patrick Michael Patton along with granddaughter Hattie Mae Patton. Additionally, she is survived by her two older siblings Lynn Templeton and Peter Groh Templeton.

Sara was an accomplished horsewoman who loved the outdoors and the land surrounding her from her residence in Hahn’s Peak, Colorado. She loved water in all forms and was a naturally gifted swimmer. She graduated from the University of Washington as a botanist. However, her true vocation was writing. Something she did daily for most of her life and over the last two years wrote a novel of enough quality to begin the publishing process. She has had previous literary works published but this was her first and only novel. She was a strong directed woman who finished her book from her hospital bed.

Sara loved life, her children and the natural world. We will miss her dearly. A memorial for Sara T Patton will be held in North Routt on Saturday September 5th, 2015.
