Obituary for Richard Kenneth MacGregor

Richard Kenneth MacGregor, formerly of Steamboat Springs, passed away at age 85 in Rifle, Colorado on September 5, 2013. Richard was born April 11, 1928 in Denver to Marie and K.L. MacGregor.
Richard is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lucy MacGregor of Rifle and three sisters. Richard and Lucy each brought 3 adult children to the marriage: Rick, Lynn and Randy MacGregor; Gary and Alan Mielke; and Marcia Simon. He is survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
For nine years, Richard and Lucy owned and operated Steamboat Paint and Decorating. The Steamboat United Methodist Church was very important to them both. He was active in Kiwanis. He was a board member of Advocates Against Battering and Abuse and the Christian Heritage School, which he also helped build. In Rifle, they volunteered for Meals on Wheels and were devoted members of the Rifle United Methodist/Presbyterian Church.
Richard followed his family’s trade in brick and stone masonry and became expert in preparing building bids. He was previously a field representative for the American Cancer Society. Richard loved camping and fishing with his family.
He was interred at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Denver following a memorial service at the Rifle United Methodist/Presbyterian Church. Those wishing to make memorial donations are asked to consider Meals on Wheels and the Rifle United Methodist/Presbyterian Church.
