Carroll Sherwood "Jupiter" Jones
1948 - 2016
Arthur and Evelyn Jones were so amazed by the activity of their soon¬to¬be¬born chlld, they called him "Holy Jumping Jupiter" . . . and instead of his given name, he was always called Jupe. Though born in Washington DC, and raised in nearby Virginia, Jupiter pursued a career in teaching, understanding how difficult it can be for some, and earned his Masters in Special Education at Greeley. He fell in love with the West, joined ski patrols at Jackson, A¬Basin and Steamboat Springs.
Jupe and second wife, Barbara, launched Steamboat Powder Cats in 1983 ¬¬ he called it "the best job in the world". He especially enjoyed hosting sit¬skiers and sharing the joys of back country deep powder with skiers from all over the world. After retirement he pursued deep sea fishing, diving and off road exploration in Loreto, Baja Sur, Mexico. He is survived by wife Laura of Loreto, Barbara Taylor, son Joel Taylor Jones, daughter Sarah Rankin Gordon and first wife Joan Rankin.
He fought a tough 3 year battle with cancer and never gave up. Enjoy LIFE!!
