We all lost a beautiful, caring and sincere soul when Judy Eileen Uhl passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at her home in Steamboat Springs, CO. Judy was born in Davenport, IA to Louis and Marjorie Walsh on July 7, 1952, an identical twin to her sister, Joan. She was raised in Iowa alongside her nine siblings and graduated from Blackhawk Central H.S. After continuing her education in Davenport, she moved to Northern California where she worked as a medical tech. While on a cross-country hitchhiking trip, she met Mark Lehmann in Big Sur, CA. He asked her to come back to Colorado with him and they made beautiful Steamboat Springs their home.
They were married on May 28, 1977 and together raised three daughters, Emily, Rachael and Caitlin, in the Yampa Valley. Judy met Tom Uhl on St. Patty’s Day 1995. They were married in 2007 and continued to enjoy life together in Steamboat. Judy was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. Many knew her in the early days from her and Mark’s shop, Rocky Peak Boutique, and more recently from UPS, TIC, Marabou and as a friendly face around town.
She enjoyed skiing, cooking, crocheting, jewelry making, bird watching and spending time with loved ones. She will be remembered for her strength, creativity, sense of humor and generosity; always putting others before herself. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Louis & Marjorie, her sister, Donna Krenicki and her brother in law, Peter Zagarella. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Uhl, her daughters and sons in law, Emily & Chris Keeble, Rachael Lehmann & Philip Bollam, Caitlin Lehmann & Jason Drobeck, former husband, Mark Lehmann, her seven sisters, Pat & Andy Remke, Marty Zagarella, Rita & Desi Smith, Jan & Dick LoRang, Joan & Gene Elverd, Kathy Banks & Kurt Schaumberg, Lorie & Jim Anderson, her brother, Jim & Marlene Walsh, many nieces and nephews and her beloved wiener dog, Botz. A memorial celebration will be held on Sunday, December 4th at Bud Werner Memorial Library (1289 Lincoln Avenue SS, CO 80487) from 16 pm, with service to begin at 2 pm. Donations can be made in Judy’s memory at Lift-Up of Routt County (2125 Curve Court SS, CO 80487). Condolences may be left at www.yampavalleyfh.com
