Richard Paul Imperato
1953 - 2017
Richard P. Imperato, better known as Richie, was born May 14, 1953 and passed April 1, 2017. He was born in Pittsburgh, California, but lived most of his childhood in New Jersey. After high school, he went on many Safari trips with his Grandfather. On one trip, he got his name in the record book for one of the biggest wildebeest ever shot. He has also been to Lebanon, and Italy with his Mother, Elaine and Grandmother many times to visit the Home Country.
After graduating from Franklin Pierce, were he earned a degree in biochemistry, he worked for the New York Institute of Health. From there he came out to Steamboat in 1976 on a ski trip with college friends, and like many of us, forgot to leave. While living here he joined the ski patrol, and worked as a roofer.
He was our friend, a great teacher of the outdoors, and a mountain man. Richie was a kind soul and always open and welcoming to making friends. Richie was excellent with the children in his life. He was always a character, up for a good time and always had a story to tell. He loved The Rolling Stones, animals, hunting, fishing and everything outdoors. He was his own ‘master’ gardener, and if you went to his house, you’d know; Rickie had the best raspberry bushes in Routt County!
He is presided in death by his mother Elaine Imperato. He is survived by his family, his father George Imperato; his sister, Deborah (Imperato) Fieger; her sons, Nathaniel Fieger and Ethan Fieger; his brother David Imperato, and his dog Cody, as well as all the friends he touched in his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Hahn’s Peak Roadhouse on the 15th of April at 2:00 till the stories are done. Bring a dish to share, or the kitchen will be open. For more info call 871 9459
