Jack M. Vaughn
July 25, 1950- April 19, 2017
Jack passed away on April 19, 2017 due to complications from acute kidney failure and pancreatic cancer. He died peacefully surrounded by family.
Jack was born on July 25, 1950 in Hayes, KS. His family moved to Steamboat, CO when he was 3 years old. While growing up in Steamboat he was active in skiing, wrestling, football, track, and basketball. When he was a senior in high school, Jack’s family moved to Grand Junction, CO where his sisters still live. Jack married Carol Vaughn (Gullaksen) on January 18, 1975 and moved to Denver, CO in the late 70’s. Jack and Carol have 4 children: Scott Vaughn, Kendra Vaughn, Christa Vaughn and Carly Bland (Vaughn) who all currently reside in the Denver Metro Area. Jack and Carol lived in Centennial, CO for the past 35 years.
Jack graduated with a Civil Engineering Degree from Illinois Institute of Technology. He worked for various engineering firms and most recently RTD-Regional Transportation District in Denver, CO. Jack was responsible for the structures in TREX, West Corridor and most recently the I-225 Corridor. It was a thrill for him to see each light rail project develop from beginning to end.
Jack loved to travel with his wife Carol, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors, skiing, sailing and building/designing various house projects. Anyone who knew Jack would say he was a friendly guy who was always smiling – he would say he was quiet and not social, but we all knew better-he brought life & energy to every room he was in.
Jack is survived by his wife, Carol, his four children: Scott, Kendra , Christa, and Carly, four grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Ashley, Emmie and Christopher, and three sisters: Janna Beth, Peggy, & Roberta. Jack is preceded in death by his mother, Ida Marie and his father, Robert.
Jack was loved by many. He will be greatly missed: husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. Until we meet again…
