Cortland (Corey) Scott Voyek, 33 of Steamboat Springs, CO came into this world the same way he left...a fighter! Born in Hastings, NE June 5, 1980 a month prematurely, he took on the world from day one. Soon after his birth, his parents moved to Steamboat Springs. Corey loved growing up in Steamboat and everything this wonderful community had to offer playing with neighborhood kids, enjoying football, soccer, skiing and snowboarding on Mt. Werner. He graduated from SSHS in 1998 after participating in athletics and making many lifelong friends including classmates, teachers & coaches . After graduating from Arizona State Univ in 2002 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Corey worked in the mortgage business for many years, lived in Denver & CA, and co-managed Mtn Temp Agency in Steamboat upon returning to his hometown in 2007. He was passionate about sports...football, basketball, NASCAR, and a lifelong NE Cornhusker and Denver Broncos fan. Corey passed away Jan 25, 2014 at the Med Ctr of the Rockies in Loveland, CO following a brave, inspiring battle with Scleroderma & Polymyocitis, two autoimmune diseases. Through it all, Corey's sharp mind and beautiful spirit never gave up, always searching for a cure. At the time of his passing, Corey was surrounded by many friends and family members who loved him dearly. He is survived by his father & stepmother, Jeff Voyek & Diana Smalley of Steamboat, mother Kim Johnson of Grand Junction, brother Tyson Voyek , wife Kayloni, niece Oakleigh & nephew Kroy, half sister Skyler Barry, grandparents Bob & Dot Alber, Donna Voyek & the late Bill Voyek, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many beloved friends.. He was a kind, generous, loving man who will be missed by all who were blessed to have known him.

Elna Yoast was born in Fargo, Oklahoma on June 30, 1918. She moved to Colorado in 1931 and loved the mountains. Elna worked some in Reno, Nevada before getting a job in the Dunckley, Colorado area, where she met her future husband, Gilbert Yoast. They were married on May 8, 1938, in Hayden. They raised a family of seven children. She is survived by her sons Jim of Silt, Bill and Frank of Craig; her daughters Betty Talkington and Marian Pape of Craig, Jody Burdick of Aurora and Linda Roberts of Greeley. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, 6 sisters and a brother. She was preceded in death by her parents Loyd and Cora McCoy., 3 sisters, 3 brothers, a son-in-law, 2 grand sons and her husband. Elna died on February 3, 2014, at the Sandrock Ridge Care Center in Craig. Graveside services and interment were at the Hayden Cemetery.

Dick passed suddenly in a boating accident last Saturday, doing what he loved. He was born in Denver, Colorado to Robert and Earline O’Dell, fifth of nine children. He became an employee of United Airlines at age 17. Starting in the galley, he was then promoted to ramp service. After much hard work and dedication, he found himself in the Captain’s seat. He retired after 43 years of service.
Dick served in the Colorado National Air Guard and was called to active service during the Berlin Crisis. He was always a strong supporter of the Military and made it a point to always be seen wearing a red shirt on Fridays to support the, “Remember Everyone Deployed” Friday.
He was an avid and talented sportsman. From golfing, skiing, hunting and anything in between. He loved most to be outdoors, spending hours working on anything from his golf swing to working on his family houseboat in Lake Powell.
He spent many years living in Steamboat Springs, Colorado where his heart remained. He retired to Mesa, AZ in 2003 and was an active member of the Alta Mesa Golf Club. He leaves behind four sisters, Elaine Ontivaros (Joe), Linda Grace, Donna Underwood (Robert), Catherine Dicus (Art), Son Darin O’Dell (Bobbie), daughter Vicki Jones (Britt), six grandchildren and numerous great-grand children. Countless nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. May God rest his soul.

Ann Avonnelle Evanoff, 58, of Hazen, North Dakota died peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at her home. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Wednesday, March 18, 2014 Barbot Funeral Home, Hazen with Pastor Walter Wolff officiating.
Ann was born on April 8, 1955 in Rawlins, WY to George and Betty (Poehler) Evanoff. She grew up in Casper, WY and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1973. Ann attended Pacific University in Hillsboro, Oregon until she moved back to Casper to run an optical shop as an optician. Ann later moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado and worked construction for several years. It was here that she met her partner, Russell Marmon and in 2009 the couple moved to Hazen.
Ann enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and everything to do with the outdoors. She loved to take care of animals especially her pet cats. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Ann also enjoyed anything that encouraged visiting with friends, including bingo, dancing, darts and playing pool. She was a very gracious woman who was always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear.
Ann is survived by her mother, Betty Evanoff of Hazen; her sister, Nancy Evanoff of Hazen; her brother, Greg (Kathy) Evanoff of Jackson, WY; her partner, Russell Marmon of Hazen; and two cousins, Susan and Kathy.
She was preceded in death by her dad, George and her uncle, John.

Former Boulder, Colorado resident Carl Phillip Houck, 73, died March 13, 2014 in Gore, New Zealand where he summered with his wife of 49 years, Joan Marks Houck. Houck was born May 12, 1940, in Denver, Colorado to Fred Adam Houck and Margaret Ledell Houck. A graduate of Regis High School, Houck earned an Engineering Degree from the University of Notre Dame and served as an officer in the US Navy. He married Joan Elizabeth Marks on July 11, 1964 in Pensacola, Florida. After earning his Masters Degree in Sanitary Engineering at the University of Colorado, Houck lived in Boulder and worked in the greater Denver area as a consulting engineer and project manager for 35 years. He retired in 2004 to Steamboat Springs, Colorado. He enjoyed fly fishing the Yampa River in Steamboat and the Mataura River in Gore. He was known and appreciated for his “can do” attitude, resourcefulness and ingenuity. Ever an engineer, he would always have an extra board, special fitting or a wire just long enough to repair or create something new. Houck was an active member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Steamboat and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Gore. He was a weekly volunteer for the Steamboat Lift-Up Food Bank. Friends remember him for his priorities of faith, family, friends and fishing. He was a genuine and steadfast man of great commitment, wisdom, passion and love. He lived his life with humbleness and integrity. He was a very much loved and devoted husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife Joan, their children and grandchildren including Steve, Jung, Kenyan and Isabella Houck (Fiji); Susan Ledell (Atlanta, Georgia); Bobby, Lydia, Bryce and Reese Houck (Fairhope, Alabama); Molly Houck and Troy Gorrell (Houston, Texas); Katie and Konrad Lehnert (Boulder, Colorado); and Julie Houck (Denver, Colorado). He was loved brother and brother-in-law of Kay and Jim Armstrong (Portland, Oregon); loved brother-in-law of Marilyn and David Oberhausen (Pensacola, Florida); Janice Valvano (Davie,Florida); and Bobby and Gerry Marks (Mobile, Alabama); and a loved uncle. A requiem mass was held March 20, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Gore, New Zealand. The funeral will be March 31, 2014 at 1 PM at Holy Name Church, 524 Oak Street, Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The internment will be April 1, 2014 at 12 PM at Sacred Heart of Mary Church and Cemetery, 6739 S Boulder Road, Boulder, Colorado. Her memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 13th at 1:30 pm at the Steamboat Springs Evangelical Church at the Christian Heritage School in Heritage Park. There will be a graveside service immediately following at the cemetery in Oak Creek and a celebration time at the Colorado Bar and Grill in Oak Creek after the graveside service.
