Dorcas Ann McKenzie Savage passed away on January 7, 2016. She was loved and loving in her family of 3 children, 3 grandchildren, 5 sisters, and her husband of almost 56 years. Dorcas was 76 years old, a life filled with generosity and achievement.
Dorcas was a registered nurse. She scrubbed in the operating rooms at Yale Medical School Hospital, served patients in private duty, and did Cardiac Intensive Care nursing, her favorite. She maintained a lifelong interest in medical diagnosis and treatments.
Dorcas had artistic interests in creative literature, machine embroidery, and cooking. She read 50-100 books a year insisting on quality writing. Dorcas’ embroidery was cherished by many who received gifts from her machine. Her gorgeous blanket for granddaughter’s 16th birthday was a masterpiece. She was a gourmet cook whose food was treasured by friends and family. Cajun cuisine was a specialty from her years in Baton Rouge, LA.
Dorcas collected trivia and loved “Jeopardy.” Her keen mind and outstanding memory made her a really good player.
Dorcas formed deep, lasting friendships. She was unfailingly loyal. She will be missed dearly by friends in Sumter SC, Baton Rouge LA, Steamboat Springs CO, Northern NJ, Horseshoe Bay TX and Georgetown TX.
