Thelma J. Lodwick passed away on Saturday October 31, 2015 in San Diego, California at the grand old age of 96. She was surrounded by family and loved ones. She finally succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease. She lived a long and very full life with many adventures. She was born in 1920 in New York City. The daughter of Polish immigrants she and her family moved across the country ending up in Monrovia, California. She met her husband Chuck, an airline pilot and was married in 1939. They moved to South America settling in Columbia after Chuck got a job for Avianca Airways. Their four children were raised in Barinas, Venezuela until they moved to Clark, Colorado in 1955. Chuck and Thelma were long-time residents of Steam¬boat Springs and the Clark area buying the Clark Store and property on the upper Elk River. Thelma became the Postmaster, shelf stocker and message center for the local ranchers at the store. Three of the Lodwick children attended the 2 room Clark School for 3 years. The family moved back to Libya from 1960 to 1967 and then returned to Steamboat and developed Fish Creek Meadows subdivision and ultimately built their dream home and retired. Thelma was a renaissance woman who completed elementary school and 2 years of Jr. College. She was an avid gardener, a great cook, homemaker and artist always with an eye for the aesthetic. She and Chuck loved to travel.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck and son Timothy. She is survived by her children: Michael, Dennis and Carol, her grandchildren: Kristopher, Todd, Eric, Scott, Melina, Zachary, Nick, Timothy and her great grandchildren: Jared, Avery, Charley, Finn, Naomi and Tosh.
